Start your healthy day with a walk and a well-rounded breakfast. “To ensure my day is great, I start off with a protein shake,” says Elizabeth Kuznicki, collector, Colorado Region. “This week, I am using soy protein powder, a banana, apple, and aloe vera juice. Going to feel great all day!”
Your morning meal provides much-needed fuel for daily energy and concentration. To freshen your breakfast menu chew on these options:
- veggie omelet with a slice of whole-wheat toast
- whole-wheat English muffin with low-fat cheese, scrambled egg, and tomato
- whole-wheat English muffin with peanut butter
- smoothie with fruit and low-fat yogurt
- handful of nuts and a banana
- salmon on whole-grain bagel with light cream cheese
- whole-grain cereal with fresh fruit
- oatmeal topped with raisins and nuts, along with 100 percent fruit juice
- low-fat yogurt and fresh fruit
- hard-boiled egg and a banana
- turkey with hummus on whole-wheat bread
As many studies have shown, breakfast actually is the most important meal of the day, so don’t walk out the door without it.
