Walking and water - Tuesday, March 04
With spring approaching, the warmer weather beckons you to get outside and walk 30 minutes a day, five days a week. And it’s a reminder to stay hydrated:
Drink plenty of water. H2O regulates everything from metabolism and body temperature to organ function and detoxification. Drink to quench your thirst throughout the day to ensure you get enough fluid each day. Drinking water before, during, and after exercise will help replace fluids lost from sweating.
How to measure hydration. Monitor urine to keep an eye on fluid needs — if it’s clear or pale yellow, you’re well hydrated. If it’s dark, drink more water. (Keep in mind that some vitamin B supplements may turn urine a bright yellow.)
Drink up, and keep walking!
