Walking in sunshine - Friday, April 18
Walking 30 minutes a day, five days a week is great for your mind and body. So take simple precautions for your skin and keep reaping the rewards.
Use broad spectrum, (UVA/UVB) sunscreen. Apply SPF 30 about 20 minutes before walking — even on cloudy and cool days, and especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when ultraviolet rays are most harmful. Reapply if you’ve been outside more than two hours or sweating heavily.
Use protective clothing and glasses. Wear sunglasses with 100 percent ultraviolet protection and wide-brimmed hats (3 to 4 inches) that shield your face, ears, and neck. Wear a long-sleeved shirt and clothing that covers your ankles.
Sunny or cloudy, walking can boost your spirit and bolster your body.
