Benefits of postpartum exercise - Thursday, May 01
“I love KP Walk!” says Monika Chaffey, admitting clerk, Southern California Region. “I have missed it. I just had a baby a few months ago and I’m ready to start my journey to a healthier me.”
Resuming exercise after having a baby is good for you and your little one. With your doctor’s approval, start a regular walking routine to:
Lose baby fat. Regular exercise hastens your return to a healthy body weight.
Restore strength. With conditioned muscles, you’re less likely to injure yourself as you lift, bend, and twist while caring for baby.
Beat the blues. A daily walk can relieve depression and boost self-esteem. If you’re still feeling down, you can get one-on-one help for coping with postpartum blues from EAP, the Employee Assistance Program.
Walking 30 minutes a day, five days a week brings good health and vitality to you and your bundle of joy.
