Exercising benefits your entire body, including your eyes. Staying physically active may prevent leading causes of vision loss:

  • Macular degeneration. Walking 30 minutes a day, five days a week reduces risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. These chronic diseases can lead to loss of vision in the center of the visual field (the macula).

  • Cataracts. Physical activity has been shown to reduce the risk of eye lens cloudiness and cataracts.
