Vision quest - Tuesday, February 18
Walking 30 minutes a day, five days a week is an important step toward good long-term health. So is taking care of your vision. During Healthy Vision Month, take a look at these tips:
Have a comprehensive eye exam. An optometrist can help diagnose potential conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and age-related macular degeneration. Be sure to discuss your family’s eye health history.
Eat for your eyes. A diet rich in fruits, vegetables — especially spinach, kale, collards, or other dark leafy greens — and fish high in omega 3 fatty acids (salmon, tuna, halibut) can vitalize your vision.
Give ’em a break. To limit strain, try the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look about 20 feet in front of you for 20 seconds.
Focusing on the health of your eyes can have long-term vision care advantages.
