Spring presents an opportunity to renew your wellness commitment — and the American Heart Association’s National Walking Day on April 3 can provide an extra boost. Enjoy warmer air and sunshine as you recharge your walking program:

  • Set achievable goals. Create an action plan with small steps, such as walking 15 minutes twice daily, a couple times a week. Before you know it, walking 30 minutes a day, five days a week will be your healthy habit.

  • Overcome barriers. Develop strategies to prevent work conflicts, time crunches, or personal obligations from disrupting your daily walk.

  • Track progress. Write notes about your exercise sessions in a journal. Record your mileage, time, or observations, then read your notes often to see improvements.

With a refreshed exercise plan, you’ll enjoy the season with a spring in your step. KP members can also call a personal wellness coach to get free personalized help over the phone to set and achieve physical activity goals. All employees can also try one of 10 online healthy lifestyle programs.
